The Most Powerful & Effective 15 minutes of your day!

As you might have guessed, the theme for this week is: “Power 15”. Yesterday, we talked about how much we can accomplish in 15 minutes by intently working on one task. Today I want to challenge you to do what you need to do tonight to go to bed earlier so that you can get up earlier tomorrow and spend some quiet time with God! Please spend as much time as you can but at least spend 15 minutes alone with God! Don’t know how? Check out Emily Barnes’ Book: Fifteen Minutes alone with God. It is a wonderful book and Amazon has used copies for as low as $1.11!

Doesn’t a Diva need her beauty rest? Why yes she does which is why we need to set timers for nighttime sleep robbers like Internet surfing, TV watching and plain old piddling! The morning is such a special time of the day that it should NOT be wasted by hitting the snooze button and getting up at the last possible moment.

I am not sure about your household but I get up first which means; the house is QUIET—the morning drama has not unfolded yet, the busyness has not begun. Mark 1:21-39 describe Jesus’ demanding schedule and how he recharged his batteries and obtained focus! Please spend some time reading these verses for yourselves but here is what happened:

Jesus taught all day then was interrupted by a man who was demon possessed. As soon as he cast out that demon, he healed Simon’s mother-in-law. Later that evening, the whole city lined up outside the door where Jesus was staying with sick people needing to be healed. After all of this, Mark 1: 35 states: Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.

So you see, Jesus had a long day of teaching and healing with tons of interruptions and a complete lack of privacy. Yet he knew how to start his day: in quiet solitude with his Heavenly Father. Dennis Fisher, a writer for Our Daily Bread wrote the following and it is our Peaceful Diva challenge:

“Is your schedule demanding? Follow the example of Jesus and set aside a specific time for prayer. Then depend upon God’s power to help you meet each day’s demands.”

To keep your life in balance, lean on the Lord. (Les Lamborn)
