Pour Your Heart Out Wednesday-What to Wear

Every Wednesday, Shell over at Things I Can’t Say, hosts a meme called Pour Your Heart Out Wednesdays. I love Pouring My Heart Out and if you would like to read other folk’s hearts click on the photo above. Here is my heart today:

As the Divas we are, most of us at least give a little thought to what we are going to wear each day. We give even more thought to what we are going to wear to a special event. Each of us have challenges in our lives that are truly”special events”. Although our challenges may feel more like never ending very emotional funerals more than they seem like dinner and dancing at swanky restaurants, we need to “clothe” ourselves appropriately. We all know what it feels like to have not prepared for the weather or simply not dressed up when everyone else was in after 5 attire!

Amazingly, our Heavenly Father produced his own episode of “What Not to Wear” and “How do I look” many years ago! Check it out:

Colossians 3:12-14 (The Message)So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.

After spending a week at BIG STUF camp last week, I have been challenged to change my spiritual wardrobe. I tearfully watched the Daraja Children’s Choir from Kenya happliy sing to the Lord with all their hearts eventhough they have so little. In comparison to them, I am a multimillionaire yet I am not sure I have EVER had the joy that they had in their eyes. Divas, I challenge each of you, myself included to: notice other people’s needs and be moved to meet them, be kind to other people-(let someone in line in front of you, smile, really listen) and get the realization that everything does NOT revolve around us. Let’s all finally lose the weight of what other people have done to us by FORGIVING so that we can fit into God’s perfect all purpose garment (aka a kicking blackdress)- “Love”!

I'm with Scrapoholic. I'm often moved to service and I think of what it is I want to do. It's the follow through that I always get hung up on.
