Periodically, I participate in a weekly meme called Mama Kat’s writers workshop. Each week, she gives a prompt for you to write about. (Click the photo above to read more posts.)This week one of the prompt was: What made them so interesting? Remember a unique classmate from your past and write about him or her:
There was a little girl in my third grade class at Cash Elementary name Tara. It seems that I will always remember Tara as I think of her randomly from time to time. Tara sat right across from me in class. She had long flowing, fire, red hair and a face full of organgy-brown freckles. Her skin was so creamy, it reminded me of milk. Tara’s nose sort of curled up on the end. From the side it almost looked like a ski slope. When she laughed, her nose twinkled just like Jeanie on “I Dream of Jeanie”! Her appearance was so different from mine, I often found myself staring at her.
I don’t remember any of our conversations but I do remember playing on the playground with her. Wonderful afternoons chasing each other, swinging on the swings and then jumping off, and playing on the monkey bars. Well, I must admit, I could never “do” the monkey bars. Tara could just whizz right through from side to side and her bright red pigtails would dance as she moved from rung to rung.
After third grade, I was never in class with Tara again and I did not see her anymore. I guess I forgot her until I saw that fire red hair, freckles, and curled nose standing on the steps right outside the school store at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. (It was my freshman year of college.)I went up to her and tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around, smiled and twinkled her nose just like she did years before on the playground. “Is your name Tara”. I asked. “Yes”, she answered. I think we were in the 3rd grade together in ___ville, NC. “Katina?” She asked. “Yes” I answered. “I remembered your voice!” She squealed.
We embraced and went our separate ways. That was over nineteen years ago. I have not seen Tara since then. I wish we had exchanged contact information.
If you are out there, Tara with the fire red hair, freckles and that cute curled nose, please know that I think of you often and I hope you are blessed.

Reason, Season, or Lifetime Poem
People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you figure out which one it is,
you will know what to do for each person.
When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty;
to provide you with guidance and support;
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a SEASON,
because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it. It is real. But only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person,
and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.

After reading that poem, I can think of many situations, were this has been so true! Then you wondered why, why did the friendship end, or why did they have to die? To teach and guide me, an answered prayer! I can think of one huge influence in my life, who was not only my grandpa, but a best friend! I completely credit him for who I am today, he was a season, but he taught me lessons that will last a life time! I SOOOOO hope that you can find Tara!! No luck finding her on facebook?
