It’s Official, Mommy is Crazy!

The past few weeks have just been chalked full of well, everything. Last Friday, I picked the girls up from school early and shuttled over to the dentist’s office for dental appointments. The girls were having a few friends over to celebrate my youngest’s birthday so, we made a mad dash home to do a “quick clean”.

The closer we got to home, the more I explained to the girls how and what we were going to clean. ‘We are gonna set the timer” I said with resolve. I even used my “happy mommy” voice, even though I was so exhausted and the very thought of cleaning up made me want to puke!

Once we were inside the house, every ounce of energy inside me disappered. The messyness overwhelmed me and I got down right EVIL! (I have noticed that when I am scared or overwhelmed, I appear angry.)

I gritted my teeth and got busy. I delegated a few jobs to the girls–like basically putting their stuff up. They huffed and puffed but did a few things. Then, they got missing.

I kept having to call their names to come to where I was cleaning for their next assignment. My oldest made it quite clear that she didn’t want to clean. She moved super slow and with every command I gave, her she asked a stupid question: “What socks? (The ones in the middle of the floor!!!!) “Where do they go”? (In your sock drawer?) “Can I have a snack” (It is soooo NOT snack time sista!)

Then she stopped responding at all! Which of course triggered my youngest to say: “Well, if she is not cleaning why do I have too?” (Oh, could Calgon please come and take me far, far away.)

Before I could respond to my youngest, I heard the “Bing, Bing, Bong” of the Nintendo DSi start-up. Every hair on my body stood at attention. My pulse shot up and if I didn’t know better, I would say my head spun around just like Linda Blair’s on the Exorcist.

I couldn’t believe my ears, I am tired and sooo NOT feeling cleaning and she has the audacity to be playing the Ninetindo DS? I went C-R-A-Z-Y!

I yelled her name so hard I gave myself a headache. The dog ran under the couch and my youngest covered her face.

I wish I could say that stopped me but it didn’t. She came into the room and I went on a tirade! I continued to clean while fussing and ranting at her about being ungrateful and disrespectful. I slammed doors and snatched things.

She immediately started cleaning because… Mom went Crazy!

In the end, every thing got done but at what price? I certainly don’t like being crazy mom. (Although Crazy Mom gets things done, even hubby gets in line when she shows up!)

What if I had just let people come over with things undone?

What if I had canceled everything at the last minute?

Have you EVER left things undone with people coming over or simply called them and canceled at the last minute because you weren’t ready?

Have you ever gone Crazy?

Crazy, oh yeah! But now the kids are grown and guess what – they still drive me crazy at times but now it's over 'bigger' issues. It never ends LOL

I've done all three. I hate it when Crazy Mom shows up that's why I try to make the other two things happen instead of pulling her out. Just a few weeks ago I was so overwhelmed. We were supposed to go to some friends house for lunch and play time but I was so emotionally drained that we canceled hours before hand. I felt like a jerk but my sanity remained intact. For Little Bit's first birthday I just couldn't find the time to clean everything like I normally do before my whole family descends upon my house so the party went on dirty house and all. I don't think anyone even noticed to be honest. More often than not though Crazy Mom makes her ugly appearance when I get stressed and worry to much about what people will think of me or my dirty house. I guess we have to let go of that and be present in the moment. Not super stressed about how clean our sink is. Right there with you though. One Crazy Mom to another ;D

It depends on my relationship with person coming over.. my BFF, no way, not cleaning! But someone who never comes over, yes. I clean until my nuckles bleed! ha! You are right, crazy mom does get results! Following from the hop!

haha! Well, I do crazy… and I can feel myself but I can't stop. Personally, I do cancel if I get to that point simply because I have a hard time transitioning after I get really upset. Once I have gotten to a certain level I just shut it all down. I am sure this is not the “right way” to do it… but sometimes it's the only thing that works at my house:)

Yes, crazy mom does make appearances here, I could never leave the house just be, no matter who it is and I've never cancelled. It's just crazy all around!
