Mommy Payback!!!–Happy Mother’s Day!

I can’t think of a better way to have started my Mother’s Day Weekend! This morning, my husband helped with breakfast and took the girls to school. He is usually still sleeping when we are battling in the mornings but today was different. My oldest had a project to turn in that is a little fragile so he promised her he would help her take it in to her classroom.

As I have shared many times, mornings around here can be a little harried to say the least. As wonderful as my husband is, he has made comments from time to time about me yelling in the morning.

One day he suggested that I sweetly say the girls names and sing to them softly to wake them up. Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah ooooooooook, like that would work? Call me crazy, but I actually did try it and as hypothesized, IT DID NOT WORK AT ALL!

Anywho, the girls started arguing this morning about something. With only a few minutes left, my oldest was about “”5 get-ready steps” away from actually being ready and my youngest was still whining about the argument with her sister.

I thought my ears were deceiving me because I heard my husband huff a loud sigh and then he started COUNTING. “That’s 1!” I heard him say. (He, He)

Just as the girls were finishing breakfast and getting ready to head out, my oldest dropped her folder and about 1000 papers went EVERYWHERE!!!!

I heard another sigh, and huff, then Hubby announced: “I’ll be in the car”. (He He) (My youngest trotted off behind her DAD while I helped pick up the papers.)

Just when I didn’t think it could get any better. I heard him yell out “AAAAAhhh”! Before I could ask what was wrong, he came back into the kitchen with the head of my daughter’s geo-bot project in one hand and the body in the other. (Ooooooooh!)

“Just great!” He announced. (He, He… I mean awwwwh) I rushed over and we did minor surgery to get the head back on! In about 5 minutes the crisis was over.

When my husband came back from dropping the girls off to school. I have him a big hug and said “You had quite a morning didn’t you?”

Happy Mother’s Day to all you Diva Mamas!

This is an awesome post! My hubby will give me a hard time about getting our one year old up and ready in less than hour! He will say, “why'd you leave the bottle sitting here?” or “couldnt you throw that in the dirty clothes?” Umm.. No! I have a screaming one year old on my hip trying to get out the door before 8:15! Oh Men!!

Oh how I remember the hectic days well. Of course I only have one. I laughed when I read the comment about waking them up. I can relate so well. Ask Niki how I wake her up, I have done it for years and still do. I walk in her room, turn on the light, open the blinds and in my June Cleaver voice say “It's Wakie Wakie Time”. She always got up, I think it's because she didn't want to hear me sing it again. Thanks for reminding me too that though it seems like a hassle the memories are so rewarding.

This is the kind of stuff mothers all over the country go through every morning. My husband made a comment to me one Sunday morning about how hard it was to get the kids up & motivated to get to church on time. I kindly reminded him that is what I have to go through Monday thru Friday since he has to be at work at 6am! What can we do but love our husbands! Happy Mother's Day.
