Well, I don’t know about ya’ll but Labor Day means a lot of things. It means: the official end of summer, no more holidays until Thanksgiving (yikes) AND only 111 days until Christmas!
Although that may either send you into a full panic attack or down deep into depression, there are a couple of things that a Diva can do to enjoy her labor day and NOT dread going back to work.
I know we have all heard the statement “Attitude determines your Alititude” and rolled our eyes in the back of our heads. (Ok so maybe it was JUST ME!) Anywho, I really do believe that our attitude about ending summer and going back to the JOB without another holiday until Thanksgiving makes a difference.
One way to change my attitude or at least keep it from tanking is to be mindful of how I spend my time on the Holiday. Here are some easy ways to enjoy the day and keep dread away:
1. Don’t sleep the holiday away by sleeping in really late. Even if you are not a “morning person” sleeping late eats up quite a bit of your actual Holiday! If you wake up after 11am, half of the day is already gone!
2. Only put 3 things on your “To Do” list today and if possible, start on the list early. Bogging down the day with a lot of projects will just wear you out. The thought of having an extra day makes “get ‘er done-ers” like me want to attmept to conquer the world in one day! I must, we must resist this urge.
3. Spend the late afternoon/evening relaxing. Really try to complete the FEW projects/things to do early so that you can unwind and really enjoy being off.
4. Lay out clothes, make lunches and prepare all briefcases and backpacks tonight in preparation for tomorrow.
5. GO TO BED EARLY. Even if you don’t go to sleep really early, start your bedtime routine earlier and actually get in your bed!
6. Wake up about 15 minutes earlier tomorrow. I know that sounds yuck but it will really help you transition back into the work/school week without stressing out about running late. With all of the night time preparation, you may even get out earlier!
7. Finally, take time and breathe. Enjoy another day that we have been given by God and be thankful!
Psalm 107:1
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Great advice! I plan to do all of the above today to get me ready to go back to work after 75 days of summer vacation!
Your ideas are really helpful for any time of year. I have been waking up earlier for a while now and am surprised how much stuff I can get done before everyone else wakes up, even if it's just enjoying a quiet cup of coffee!
Best wishes,
Natasha.
