Missing Make-Up -Writer’s Workshop

Today I am linking up with Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop. Today’s writing prompt was “Write abut the last item you looked for. Why did you need it?

Just about every day I lose something and spend sometime looking for the lost item, (usually when I am already running late).

Although I have never been diagnosed, I know that I have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). Actually, when my oldest daughter was diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), I realized that the fruit really DOES NOT fall far from the tree. (Read more about that here.)

For the majority of my life, my tendancy to lose things and forget important things has aggravated the stew out of me. Over time, I developed strategies to overcome ADD like setting alarms and trying to put my keys back in the same place every day. I am about 45% accurate with the keys! My IPhone has helped a lot with me NOT forgetting things but all those apps an techy goodness distracts me from time to time.

Most recently, I misplaced my makeup kit. GASP!!! Since I am often running late in the mornings, I apply my make-up in the car. This means that I have to transport my makeup pouch from one location to another. Huge red flag for folks with ADD.

So, I went Au Naturalle for most of the weekend. Not really a big deal because I work from home on Fridays. I taught Zumba® on Saturday morning. I SWEAT like a very cute pig so wearing make-up to Zumba® is a non-issue.

However, we were scheduled to take family portraits on Sunday! Ok, so Au Naturalle around the house and at Zumba® is one thing, but taking a picture is a horse of a whole different color! I mean, who actually takes a picture for the family Holiday card without makeup?

I really don’t wear that much make-up but my essentials (Concealer, foundation, eyeliner and mascara) were in my missing pouch! I tore the house up looking for my pouch. I even thourally re-looked through the car—NO MAKEUP!

I was evil by then. I could very well have left my make-up pouch on my desk at work. The building is locked over the weekend so I couldn’t’ go there and look. (In a whine voice) I mean I loved my concealer and foundation. So, I went to CVS to buy new makeup ! No biggie right? NOT.

Just to amuse me, look at the available brown tinted foundations the next time you go to the drug store. There were a few, but to describe it as slim pickins would be an understatement.

Luckily, I was able to find a foundation and concealer that I could work with. They are were not my beloveds but hey, life goes on.

I made do. As we were waiting on the photographer to meet us at the park, Bruno Mars song “Your Amazing ” came on the radio. My daughter asked my husband it he liked the song and he said “Yes, it reminds me of how I feel about your Mommy”. Then he looked at me and said “I know you don’t have your favorite make-up but I think you are amazing just the way you are”. Awwwh.

The photos turned out well! Here is a pic of Hubby and me!

1 Samuel 16:7 (NLT)
“The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

There are gadgets out there to help folks like me find their keys, wallet, etc using a homing device and remote! I found this remote system on amazon:

The only question I have is: “What happens when you lose the remote?”

That is a great photo. And your husband is awesome! Did you find the pouch?

I also keep my make-up pouch in my car! I try really hard never to take it out, because then I inevitably misplace it/forget to grab it and then it drives me crazy!

I do my makeup in the car, too! So glad someone else admits they do, too. I'm always running out to my car when I actually have time to do it in my bathroom. :) Your picture turned out great!
